6,000 miles on my 08 Ultra and I had to get a new seat. The stock seat gave me roada$$ on long trips. I did several very long (week +) trips on my 04 Softail and never got roada$$ from the stock seat. A fellow member on here saw my complaint reference the stock seat and sold me a Mustang seat he had. What a world of difference! Feels much better. Will be doing my first long trip tomorrow. Hopefully I won't get any roada$$ tomorrow.

My seat came off and was replaced with a Mustang with-in the first 500 miles. Once you have had one Mustang, stock seats just don't cut it. I did a 3200 mile trip with 4 of 8 days of 650 miles each and never got sore once. This is my 3rd Mustang. I was just gonna edit and add a link, but I remembered I think thats against forum policy

Put the "Tallboy" seat (H-D) on my 08 Ultra the first day I got the bike; I am 6 feet tall and needed the extra 2" of room. I can now ride my Ultra all day long. When I do a Harley Fly & Ride trip and I rent an Ultra or E/G I can really feel the difference of the stock seat pushing me forward. The good thing I like about buying the H-D seat is that my dealer told me if I did not like the seat I could return it. Not saying the Corbin's & Mustang's aren't good, but once they are on your bike they are yours, like 'em or not. To me it's important to try a seat before buying it. I suppose it would be great to find someone who has the same model bike as yours and has a seat that you are interested in so you can sit on it before ordering one.

That in it self is worth something, you have a good dealer there. I've played the seat game for several years and have learned that not every back side likes the same seat. I read rave reviews of the Mustang seat so I ran out and bought one. I put 10,000 miserable miles on it hoping it would get better, my azz was on fire with in 90miles of it hitting that seat. I hated it and my wife couldn't stand it either so off to ebay it went. I then had my stock set modified, it feels like I'm riding the dang seat pan. I give, I just bolted up another stock seat with some Bead rider beads and I'm calling it a day. I can put on 600 miles in a day with the seat like this so I'm saving my cash from now on.

I am on my second corbin, this one is on my RG. Lots of folks dont like them because they are firm, but I cant ride the stock seat for 25 miles without my backside going numb.

I second the meancitycycles guys. The basic mod for the rider IMHO is pretty cheap. They cut the original foam to your measurements (height, wt, inseam, etc) and then add 2" of 5lbs hospital grade memory foam. It comes back lower than stock but you can tell them to mod it anyway you want. I added another layer of 1" 10lbs foam to boot. It still came back a little lower.
Hope this helps, give them a call...nice people.
I personally loved my HD Zep seat however it does not fit the 08s. Again...HD f'ed me.

I disagree, it's not an engine or a pair of boots. It won't get any better than it is right now. Period. I've got an '08 Ultra Classic and the stock seat that came on that bike is the biggest piece of crap I have ever ridden on in nearly 30 years of riding motorcycles. The first 1000 or so miles were fine but it's gotten progressively worse to now with about 7000 miles on her I get the worse butt ache ever after only about 30 minutes of riding. The passenger is fine, no complaints back there at all.
I even sent this seat to Mean City Cycles last summer with about 6000 miles on the seat, no improvement whatsoever. I'm looking at purchasing a new seat for a $22K bike after only 2 seasons on it. Am looking at the Hammock seat or something from Saddleman or Mustang. I've got to do something.
I can ride in a car or pickup all day, no problemo, put me on this seat and it's pain city after no time at all. Take it off the bike and feel it, there's nothing to it, no workmanship, no material of any quality, nothing. Light as a feather. Shame on Harley for putting this piece of garbage out there.

I went the similar route. Got a 2008 Ultra, had the seat rebuilt by Mean City Cycle - they did an OK job.
Saturday I bought a Mustang One-Piece Touring seat while in Laconia. I went for a 400 mile ride and felt great. It works with the Harley backrest and the seat matches the backrest and tourpak backrest.
I had a Road Sofa on my 2004 Ultra and I think the Mustang is far better.
Just my butts opinion.

WOW!! That's exactly what I said to my wife. HD puts out an awesome bike like this and installs the biggest piece of crap for a seat imaginable. Hell, my first Honda 65 back in the 60's had a better seat. I totally agree about the seat. Pissed me off that I had to go spend several hundred more just to be comfortable on a 22 thousand dollar bike. That's just wrong!! I put about 100 miles on my 08 the day I picked it up spring of 08. By the time I got home my butt was hurting. I figured new seat needs breaking in. By the time I had 500 miles, I knew it was coming off. I have had Mustangs on the last several bikes I have owned and they fit me perfect. Never a sore but, even on those 700 mile days in the heat. Alaska sheep skin on those 90+ degree days keeps the monkey butt away. So what seat are you gonna end up with? Have you ever tried a Mustang? I think any of the high end seat manufacturers will be just fine, especially in comparison to stock..

Like I've said before, not every back side is the same. I owned 1 Mustang seat and hated every mile I put on it. I then had a stock seat modified by Meancity and it felt like I was riding on the dang seat pan, it now resides in a box at my dads place. I use a stock seat with the Bead rider beads. Last year I put 3,400 miles on riding to SD and back with one of the days being 640 miles. Road the stock seat with the beads and after 640 miles I was still good to go for more. My 06 Ultra still has the stock seat and I'll keep it that way. I have a deposit down on a 2010 Tri Glide which will also keep the stock seat and have beads added. My dad just got done strapping on some miles with his 09 Tri Glide and he likes the stock seat on it even better than the stock seat he had on his 06 Ultra. FWIW he also hated riding my bike with the Mustang seat, some other guy owns it now.
