01 ultra classic charging system

I have a 01 Ultra. Just replaced the Stater a couple months ago. Last night I put on a new voltage regulator. I still am not receiving any charge to the battery. I also do not see any movement on the volt gauge like I used to. I checked the Fuses however I did not see one labeled for the charging system . I was hoping it was just the voltage regulator since the Stater was replaced 2 or 3k miles.

The bike has 94k miles. Any experience with this is helpfull. I just do not know how to test the Stater. We put a voltage meter on the battery but beyond that I have no clue.

Check the connection between the stator and regulator. Mine had a bent pin in the housing. It felt like a solid connection so it took me awhile to figure it out. I relaced housing and all was back to normal. Good luck.

The basic stator test is measuring the AC voltage across the two terminals of the stators output plug; normal output is something like 20VAC for every 1000RPM. Also important; using an Ohm meter measurement to verify that there is no measureable resistance between engine block (ground) and those same two terminals (Vreg disconnected), and a very low resistance measurement between pin.

If you road the last 2 or 3 kmiles with a defective Vreg, such that it loaded down the stator output while operating, you may have damaged the stator you just replaced. It’s very common for a bad Vreg to ruin the stator, as there is no overload protection between the two. Good luck!

Thanks will do! I just got done with the top end job due to blown head gasket so it seems the rowdytwin is not so rowdy at the moment.

Exactly what I was thinking,I always replace both together.
Been down that road before.
Do the AC output test and check that plug connection,best of luck.

It was the stator. Actually fried the wires. Another problem if yall got anything on this one below.

I have a ultra classic FLHCTUI, 01. 88. I can not get this thing to idle once warmed up. It will literally die on me. Someone has mentioned the Heat sensor, and someone else the idler control motor kit? Any views will help thanks!
