Lake Havasu City, AZ

Has anyone taken a ride to Lake Havasu City, AZ? Thinking of heading there this weekend, looking for any sugestions on places to go or avoid there.

Thanks, Mo

Rode down there from Salt Lake a few years back, loved the ride. Lake Havasu is a great place and the ride along the river is nice. If you have time, rent/beg/borrow a boat and take a cruise up and down the river. Enjoy the ride!

Did you make it through the Topock/Golden Shores and refuge area and up into Oatman? Very nice this time of year.

No, I did not make the Topock/Golden Shores ride. Been thru Oatman, and it is still a real nice place to grab lunch.

The area is no doubt one of the hottest places on earth during the summer. Oatman is ok but you might want to watch out for the burros. I came out from the bar at the Oatman Hotel and saw tourists happily snapping photos of a burro about to chew on my seat. I'm thinkin "like what the fuk, people?" I gently bopped the animal on the side of the head and almost got booed. The burro knew what he was doing was wrong and hauled ass.

It's a good ride, but my favorite is Railroad Pass > Searchlight > Nipton > Cima > Kelso > Baker > Shoshone > Pahrump > Mt. Springs and then back to town.

All two lane roads with no traffic. The weather is perfect this time of year.

Viva Las Vegas...

Dan

Zoo, I can relate to the burro story. We were walking up and down the street to come back to the bike finding a burro almost leaning on my bike to scratch with folks gathered around for pictures.

Dan, I will have to write that route down, sounds like a good trip!
