Tail Light Problem, Any Thoughts?

My tail light on my 06 FLHTC stopped working last night (blown fuse). The brake light still works. To make a long story short, after a little troubleshooting on the side of the road in the dark, I believe that I have a short somewhere in the main harness. (with the tail light harness unplugged under the seat, it will still blow the fuse). Anyone have any thoughts on where the problem likely might be? Thank you very much.

Anything been worked on lately??? What else is on the fuse with the tail light? I would think fender tip lights and dash lights would also be on that fuse. Are they out??
HD keeps changing the wiring so your best bet would be to use the wiring diagram for your bike and start tracing wires.

the front signal running lights and the fender tip light is on that same fuse... without a complete wiring diagram, you can check carefully to see what else is not working when the fuse is out.

Ok check this out I had an 05 flhti ans I kept hearing a whrrrrrring noise in the front . So one day I look up under the front fender on the left side and see that the wires for the fender tip lights are rubbing on the tire. Then I see that they are worn through and grounding out together blowing my fuse which I hadnt noticed was blown. Maybey you have the same problem. Hope this helped good luck

Thanks for the help guys. As you thought, it was the front fender tip wiring. I hate to admit it, but it was my fault. I had replaced the lighted tip with an unlighted one. I did not remove the wiring because at some point I'm sure the lighted one will be going back on. Then.... I did not protect the bare pins on the wiring good enough and they shorted on each other. What a dope!!!! Thanks again.
