Question Road Glide headlight cover

One of the top tabs on the headlight cover of my '06 Road Glide has broken off. If it was a bottom one it may not make as much difference but I find the cover wants to come loose now and hang on by the other top tab only. Not a good situation. I checked with my dealer and the replacement covers are $60!!! Yipes!

Does anyone have:

1. a good one for sale?
2. the H-D part number so I can check out on-line sources at a better price?

Thanks

IndianSteve - Call the Harley Dealer for the part number. It's one of the few (only) things that I've found that the Dealer is good for.

found the parts catalog very helpful to get.

You can defenitly get it cheaper from on line sources. My favorite two or Zanotti's and M&M. Lately M&M has been cheaper on shipping.

Yes, mine is broken also...

When I finally got mine off, I saw that some dufus prior owner had sealed it on with silicone... must have worked fine, but made it tough to get to and clean- especially since the job he did leaked.

I took a lot of time to clean off the old rubbery silicone buggers, and then took some extra strong double sided foam sticky tape... get it at Office Depot... take a razor knife and cut it long ways to make it the right size and make a gasket.
Then reinstall when you are done cleaning or whatever...

It has held up great for me. a $3.00 soultion.

That's what I was looking for! Thanks.
Yes, the Parts Catalog probably would be very helpful. I have the Service Manual but it doesn't show part numbers. I'll check into getting the Parts book.

As far as the suggestion on double-sided foam tape. That sounds like a good solution normally but I enter my RG in bike shows and that may not be the best idea for me. Thanks for the idea though.

Yep, more money to spend on the bike. Well, kind of...it is a book of sorts about the bike.

I had my fairing off to do a HD XM and GPS install. So far I have left the cover off. I like the look.

Had 3 tabs fall off on my 06 Roadglide and

I made the dealer replace it under warranty....I told them I had never even f$@ked with the light cover....Until I was pulling out of a parking spot at work and the d@mn thing hit my leg...Luckily it didn't fall off in the interstate or something...It would have smashed into a 1000 peices....They ordered a new one and replaced it under warranty....

I would make them do the same for you!!!!

Mine is falling apart, only 1 tab left but I run a fairing bra so I just put a couple of screws where the top tabs were, kinda wedges it in there, works great and you cant see the screws at all because they are under the edge of the bra.

Having another fairing painted to match the flame job on my fender and tank so I guess I'll have to replace the cover since I won't be running the bra anymore. Cycle Visions makes a real pretty one with chrome trim and led's on the edge that are turn signals, it is really pretty bobble at about $180 see it here, it's the Illumabezel the pics don't do it justice, it looks beautiful on a bike!

Thanks for the great suggestion! That's just what I've done and they have one on order for me under the warranty.
