e-glide classic fluid change intervals?

Hey fellow harley nuts! I got a 98 electra glide classic and just got all the fluids (Oil, transmission, primary with all regular stuff, not synthetic) changed. What are the change intervals for the next time I need to get them changed? Is is all like a car; oil 3 months or 3000 miles whichever comes first? and transmission and primary about every two years? Some advise woul dbe great!

If you use synthetic these are the change intervals according to HD (note the storage for winter exception):
Synthetic Motorcycle Lubricant has been tested and certified for use in all Harley-Davidson transmissions and the following Primary Chaincase applications:
• ’71-later XL, ’83-’84 XR 1000 models, and ’84-later FL, FLT, FX, FXD, FXR, and FXST models with wettype diaphragm spring clutch.

All Big Twin:
Crankcase: Replace after first 1,000 break-in, then every 5,000 thereafter (unchanged)
Primary: Replace after first 1,000 break-in, then every 10,000 thereafter or prior to winter or
extended storage periods
Transmission: Replace after first 1,000 break-in, then every 20,000 thereafter or prior to winter or
extended storage periods. http://www.guillermo.ca/images/rk/PAB849.pdf

Do yourself a huge favor and just go buy the HD service manual for that bike. It will answer all your questions and provide you with tons of info.

I use SYN 3 and change all three holes every 5,000 miles. 04' EGC. I'm no pro wrench, but I figure since my ride is air cooled, changing the oil at regular intervals protects from future damage. If I used regular oil, I'd change them every 3,000 miles. My .02

According to my 2004 Service Manual you change all of them at 5,000 miles if using regular (dino) type oil.

Don't run regular oil longer then 3k, usually 2500 miles is is when I change it during summer months using 20w65, when it cools down I run 20w50.
Usually 5k on the trans & primary using non-synthetic.
You should check levels anyway from time to time, you see when the oil starts to get dark it needs changed.
