1958 Sportster XL restoration project.

I have decided to return to the '58 to as close to original as possible. Luckily, the entire bike was rebuilt and beautifully restored when I got it a few years ago, unfortunately many of the original parts are gone. The engine and transmission are perfect, and original. I need a tank, front and rear fenders, a seat, and handlebars to start. Also would like to find a parts/repair manual. Any suggestions that the members have for finding OEM parts for this bike would be greatly appreciated. My first stop will most likely be Tejas Thump Cycle, as I know they have reproductions tanks, and possibley more for this bike. Any thoughts?

Sportster XL restoration project.

Try calling Kirk at Sporty Specialities in Fullerton,Ca. (714) 879-0500.
If he doesnt have the part he'll get it and will normally mail it the same
day.
He deals only in Sportsters, is very helpful and knowledgeable and has
been in the business for years. Mike Meyer.

All the best with getting your Sporty back to the way it was.
I'd love to own the same. It's be neat to have a Sporty the same age as me.

Have fun... Dave.
