I just turned 61 a couple weeks ago and also just sold off my '96 Sportster 883 Hugger. Still riding my '96 Softail Nostalgia at the moment. Miss the Sporty already.

I've officially reached ol' fardt status.....66 next month. Got my first scoot in '69, a neat black & chrome Yam 180 twin. Put 2500 mi on it in 6 mo. Then a Kamakaize 500 triple....the most dangerous bike I ever had. Then 3 much more civilized ricers....now still have an 83 500 Virago (town runaround bike), 05 Concours (long distance, hispeed runner), an 05 XL1200R (w/tank, fenders & spoked rims from a Custom) & an 08 FXDC. The Hogs are for cruisin' (in other wds, tryin' to feel like a kid again....sometimes it actually works!)

I'm 62, and while I've had several bikes over the years I just bought my first Harley, a 1200 Sportster Custom. I really like it and now wish I'd bought one sooner.

I'm 65 and bought a 2002 883 Sportster last year just to say I had a Harley. THe performance wasn't all that good so I had the conversion done and added an Andrews N2 cam and Rush slip ons and love it! It is my running around town bike. The touring bike is a 2012 GL1800 ABS/NAV which is great for munching miles, but for short trips and fun the Sportster can't be beat!!!!!!

I'm so old
I am 65 now and have been riding since I was 14. My first bike was a Honda Cub. Had Norton's, BMW's, Villers, and just about every metric maker. My 40th bike is a 1200c 2004. I also have a 2003 FJR in my garage. I had been riding my Harley exclusively until I hit a few pot holes. Now back to the FJR until my but heals. Got to change the shocks on the Harley. Forgot to mention I had a Rabbit scooter when my hormones were still working. When I had a Triumph Thunderbird I saw a Honda 1995 BIG ONE for sale and my significant other said you better not buy it, it's that or me. Well it turned out to be that and I hope she rests in peace. Love the Harley now. Can't wait to get the passenger pegs so my son of 15 can ride with me.

57 and after riding a bagged V star 1300 for the past 4 years and VT1100s before that I want less weight and better handling. I looking at Sport bikes but no weather protection like I can get on a cruiser. adding engine chaps lowers and a "real" windshield. and more storage in a paid of US saddle bags.
At the end of the day my old FXR which I sold in the 90's for (HD bubble money) would have been ok but today's Harleys are too damn big and bloated for my riding style. Don;t need a 1600cc motor. I don't tour, go on poker runs or bar hop. I commute....
I am going to test ride a XL1200 vs My V Star and make the final choice to keep the Yammy or buy the 1200. . I never thought I would want a Sportster after test riding one back in the 80's But they tell me they are smooth now........and mostly visceral which is what I want. The Yamaha is a boring stable unemotional ride.
