Anybody ride with a laptop?

I can't figure out where to put this, so I'll try here. I have an 04 XL883C (which I just got back from HD yesterday after getting over $4K in parts on it with their free labor deal...I promise I'll post pics in a day or two after I get it shined up a little bit more).

Any ways, I'm in a professional job, and travel with my laptop all the time. I'd like to take the bike out more often, even for work. How is everybody transporting their laptops in their bikes, without having them get damaged, or coming loose from a bungee cord on the pass seat? I have a solo seat on now, but easily can throw on a sissybar and pass seat.

Just curious as to what everybody does to carry a laptop with them when they ride.

Thanks!

I drag my laptop to and from work almost every day. I put it in a backpack and bungee the backpack to the HD tall sissy bar. I also put the backpack straps over the sissy bar in case the bungees come loose. It has worked okay for me so far.

I don't have a Sportster but I put my laptop in a padded helmet bag and put it in my saddlebags.

Another option is a backpack.

I ride a Deuce but occasionally ride my wife's sporty. I ride to work every chance I get. Both bikes have solo seats so I carry a padded backpack for the laptop.

I recently bought a Dell 700M for the fact that it's small enough to comfortably carry in my backpack.

Backpack, or I beleive T-Bag makes a laptop bag that fits over and secures to a sissy bar.

Some of the places I go for work might make carrying a backpack a little tiring, so was looking for something that securely goes to the backrest.

put a set of bags on the bike then. Less of a chance losing or damaging the laptop while riding.

Could always trade the Sporty in for a bagger too. They have lots of storage room!

Luggagelocker makes a lockable tank bag designed for laptops. I've found laptops are pretty durn tuff. I carry mine a lot. I've strapped it to a rack, back of seat, stuffed it in a saddle bag, and carried it in a messenger bag. Never had a problem.

Its not so much, the question, its more like the rediculously obvious answers.

It's not so obvious. That's why I asked this question. You see, when you have a $4,000 laptop that work makes you use, and it get's rained on, or falls off the bike from CHEAP QUALITY laptop holders, then your butt is screwed.

It's better safe than sorry. Not ALL obvious bags are going to be the solution. I need something that keeps the laptop dry, and SAFE. I've been reading other forums on this, and you'd be surprised how many people have had a laptop fly off the bike at 65MPH, or had it soaked with rain, because they used "obvious" bags.

Thay's why I asked what other people have found to work good, because I don't want to be asking my boss for another expensive laptop. If this thread bothers you, then move on and don't bother wasting your time reading it.

And, the obvious spelling is "ridiculously", Mr. Obvious.

EDIT: One more thing. I have hard saddlebags for my Sportster. However, my 15" + widescreen notebook DOES NOT FIT in it, as I can't get the top closed and locked. So, I have a very valid concern about asking about other ways to transport a laptop safely. I travel state-to-state, and I don't think that a backpack is the solution if I have to ride for a few hours at a time.

Thanks to all others who have replied, still looking for specific bags that you all have been using.
