Fork oil??????

I want to change my fork oil on my 82 sportster and I was wondering if I can use something other than the HD fork oil. I know some of my other bikes use trans. fluid or motor oil (10-30w etc.). Any suggestions will help.
Thanks

That year may of use 10 wt possibly 5. Belray make good fork oil (as do others) when you change old oil with new the way it rides will be inproved. Use 15 or 20 for more compresson dampaning.
