Crossroads

I can get a 883 for $7000 in Black or the 883 custom for $8775 in Red.

My dilemma is do I buy the 883 for $7000 and then spend the $300 on forward controls and an additional $300-400 for a double up seat.

From what I have read everyone that has bought a Sportster seems to replace the seat. I don't see the need to buy the custom then turn around and put on a new seat. I know there are some other major differences between the 883 and the 883 custom. Does this seem like a reasonable thing to do or am I missing the boat by not buying the 883 custom?

I believe that no matter which model of Sportster you get you will want to change out the seat. I believe all of the stock seats on these are crap. The first thing I did to my Sport was change the seat. BIG difference!

You won't like the stock seat on the Custom either. Get the HD Touring Seat for $200, it's an awesome butt saver! The prices for the bikes themselves sound good. We got an 883 Custom in black, with a windshield for $9050 OTD. Good luck with your choice!

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?

my vote is go with the custom. if the chrome bub bites you, you'll never recover from this vicious creature. plus you'll have the foward controls on the bike. far as seats go, took mine to a custom restration shop. re-did the seat and sissy bar pad for 200$ put thicker padding in. got what i wanted . if you start puttin chrome on, you'll be way ahead over the plain 883.

You will want to change that seat, it is about as comfortable as sitting on a rock.
