Bar change on a 04 custom?

Ok guys and Gals
Has anyone changed there handel bars on a 04 1200 custom. ?
If so to what. I would like more pull back and a bit more rise. Like to do new bars with out a cable change. Two options so far are HD mini apes, or the 1200 HD custom bar up-grade.
Any Pics of your change?

Cool handlebars 1200C 04

Ordered handlebar kit from DiscountBiker same as in HD parts book.Comes with brake cable. Cost $126.90. Brings bars back for a more comfortable rideing position plus more leverage and control.

What about an easy way to bring back the 04 883 XL?

I'd like to know the best way to bring them back on an 04 XL883 too. It's a little bit of a tiring reach for me.

We swapped out the bars on my Dad's 04 1200 Custom to the HD Extended bars. He says it is a huge improvement to the stock bars. Pulled back more and a little wider. The swap was easy. The kit comes with a braided brake line. All the other cables had plenty of length, although we did have to reroute the throttle cables. That was a pain in the ass because you have to remove them from the carb. Good thing I have small hands, otherwise we would have had to remove the carb to do it. We still had to remove the air cleaner assembly but that was no big deal.

I'll take some pics and post them when I get a chance.

later,

Hey Never,
So you want pulled back and higher up.. Well it can be done in more ways then one.

New risers is a good way if you want to keep the stock drag bars, or some mini-ape or things like that.

In all of that, just see how much does the new bar add to the lenght and you can find out if it will fit the stock wire. If you have to splice and add more wire, its not that bad. CC sells wire that is the same HD color so its all good.

Oh, and if the bars for for internal wiring, the turns sometime take more wire then if it was just out.. I was short by a few in bc of that, but thanks to some re working the connectors, i was able to get the in without a problem.

I went with the pullbacks. Install was pretty easy. I also went ahead and did the clutch cable and throttle and idle cables. Since the cable that came with the bars were SS I decided to get SS on the others to better match (the were also a bit longer).

The throttle/idle cables were a pain to get off the carb so I'm glad I actually bought the new ones. Would have hated to do that twice.

Looks very nice and the new position is SO MUCH more comfortable!

I guess the people in the parts dept. at my local Dealer don't know their ass from their elbow then. I called to ask if there was a kit of some sort to bring my bars back and the lady said "it involves alot of parts and costs about 800.00..very expensive job". After hanging up from her, I gathered she assumed I wanted to buy the parts and have the work done there, but I just wanted to order the stuff.
Can some of you post before and after pics? I'd be interested in seeing how it looks.
