thinking about a sporty 72

Like the title says, I'm thinkin about a sporty 72. I'm not thrilled about all the plastic junk on the "newer" style sportys, I'm used to my ironhead, or the inaccessibility of simple thingls like the battery but I am still being summoned by this sparkly beast. What are the common issues with these new fuelie sportsters that I need to consider before spending 12 k on another bike that I do not need? Thanks in advance!

Our 2007 1200C had water run down to fuse box and corrode/ wear out relays. Ignition switch could not handle extra weight of more than just ignition key and fob without wearing out. Top of oil dipstick came off. Other than that just normal stuff; tires,brakes ,oils ,filters,more chrome.
