brake light stuck on

This is a long shot but I hope someone can help. I removed my fatbob tank with center tank top mount ign. switch to paint it. Had to pull the switch and mount which included the wires to the switch. After reassembly the brake light is always on. I marked the wires and the switch so everything would go back the same as before but it's not right. Any suggestions before I take it back apart again and start moving the switch wires around??? Could something else be causing the problem? I also replaced the brake and clutch levers on the handlebars. The hand brake is very tight with zero play so it's very sensitive, too sensitive. Any ideas before I take her back apart?

By the sound of your post you already suspect the front lever as being the culprit. I would simply unpin the lever & see if the light does infact stay on.

If it does I would then check to see if your circuit is correctly wired. Using an Ohm meter across the switch will also verify it is working as intended.

the front brake switch is easily broken and if you didnt use the 5/32 shim when replacing you may have damaged it not allowing the brake light to turn off .

Ok, i'll focus on the hand brake switch instead of the tank ignition switch 1st. I don't know what the switch looks like but i'm sure i'll see it when I pull the pin and remove the brake lever?? This is new ground for me. 1st time replacing a brake lever. I figured something was wrong when after the new lever install, the brake lever doesn't move more than 1/4" total with no play at all, really tight. Not really sure where or how it adjust the free play. Up at the master or down at caliper? Guess I can google it as no fsm.....thx for the replys

Once you pull your brake leaver asm off you will see a small part inside that has the two wires on it it screws into the housing and as said there is a shim to install when you have the lever/housing off do yourself a favor and buy one from HD as it is a much better quality then aftermarket
