Personal Opinion on 2013s

Hey i went to a Harley Demo and test rode the 2013 sportster 72 and tried my buddies 48, I liked them both but they each had there pros and cons. Anybody ride either of them and can't decide which one they like more?

I won a '12 Forty Eight so I know it pretty well. (I won it and then lost it as my daughter took it over.) And I did ride the 72 at our dealer show too. I like it, made an offer but we did not agree and I passed on buying another Sporty. Both bikes are OK, I do consider the 48 the better of the two. It handles solid, runs like a speed champ and it's down right fun to roll. The 72 is a little over the top with the 70's wanna-be look, but it's cool in its own way. What I dislike about both- the peanut tank. My fuel light comes on at 60 miles, will stall out of fuel at about 85 miles. I consider the tank a real problem. Yeah, a bigger tank can be fitted but that takes something away from the look of the 2 bikes. Enjoy what you buy.

I haven't ridden either bike, but I've looked them over. The biggest difference I see is the front tires. The 48 runs a 130-mm, 16-inch front tire (same size as my Sporty's rear tire), and the 72 runs a 90-mm, 21-inch front tire. That also affects the ground clearance (3.9 inches for the 48 and 4.7 for the 72). The 48's seat height is about a half an inch lower than the 72 as well.

Both bikes are nice looking. I do prefer the look of the 48's however the stance on the bike is uncomfortable after riding for any length of time. I do like the hard candy paint on the 72's. They both ride very different.
