Just don't drop the GPS on the concrete road...
Or in the water with the USB cover open...

I have a GPS on all of my bikes, all mounted with RAM mounts (also use them on my off shore fishing boat) and I never had a problem with the use of any of the farkles, now don't try to program the thing when you are riding down the middle of the high way, but they are safe when used properly.

Come on detractors, most of the newer GPS units are Blue Tooth capable so you really don't even have to look at them. I use mine more as an 'last resort' tool than I do as a 'back seat driver'. It's good to have if you're in the middle of nowhere and need gas, food, motel, etc. There's more to a GPS unit than just directions.

Plus, the way it's mounted with the Ram system it's actually easier to see the speed readout than it is to see the speedometer.

When using a RAM handlebar mount with iPhone plate, I found that the vibration played havoc with the iPhone accelerometer and it would constantly bounce back and forth between portrait and landscape. iOS will let you lock portrait mode but not landscape.

Real bikers don't use a GPS.

Oh, darn. I guess that means I'm not a real biker. I'm devastated. For the last 47 years of riding I thought I was a real biker and now I find out I'm not. Are you sure there are no exceptions for seniors with a gps device on their bike?

The below photo shows where I was when I rolled over the odo on my 92 fxr.

I have a Canon Powershot 520 that I used prior to getting the GoPro. It never showed any vibration. But, the U-bolt that I have has a plastic 'collar' that goes between the U-bolt and the bar so that may be enough to absorb the vibration.

This may show it to you.
