Beefing up Sporty Gas tank?

Hi I have a '99 1200. Im thinking about beefing up the gas tank here soon from the peanut to to something bigger. Are there any other models that are compatible with the 99 sportys or do they all have to have a little fabrication work done? Aly help is much appreciated thanks!

Hey brother, I ride a 96 with a set of fat boy tanks on her. I bought it this way, but when I tore it down it looks like a little fabrication was done. A piece was welded to the backbone to mount the tanks to. The coil was relocated to the left side, and the ignition between the tanks. I love it! The look is amazing. Low, fat and mean.

Hey sorry a little late on the reply been pretty busy lately. I appreciate the input for sure its kinda seeming any bigger tank is going to require a little fab work to fit right, I was hoping to avoid that but doesn't look very promising lol.

Aftermarket offers a "King tank" -4.2 gallons with a similar profile that would bolt right up.

kustom_flames will become famous soon enough
there are aftermarket tanks out there that will work...just keep in mind - in ADDITION to paint, they will require a pressure test and bodywork first...
