widest rear tire- stock frame?

Hi y'all,
Was wondering what the widest tire size (prefer Avon) ya can fit on the back of an Evo Sportster would be. Stock 16" spoke rim, swingarm, fender, etc.

The widest tire you can fit is whatever rear tire that comes on the 1200S. I forgot what size it is but if you do a search through the sportster section you will see this topic come up a few times.

Yeah, those wide tire kits are awesome looking, but Im not interested in that conversion for my bike 'cause I dont have $3000 (Cdn) to shell out this year anymore. And I like my stock fender. A wide tire would be fine- my stock 97 Dunlops are old and cracking, and they're too wimpy. I'm thinking of the best Avons available, as wide as will fit on the stock setup. Will the Super Venom 150/80V 16 fit or a 140/90H Venom or just the MT90H Roadrunner or...?
I'm not sure about the significance of these tire sizes listed in the CC Big Book, but seems one of these should do the trick. Hopefully, someone out there has done the research and knows what the max size is.
Thanks.

Lightnin wants to know where he is and how he got here
I'm interested to see what the largest tire for the back is on a sporty as well...without ANY mods...stock fender and swingarm. I'm not much into the super wide tires. Different look...but on a sporty it's like ghetto booty. Personal preference. You don't gain a significant amount of tread (or handling) when you go over 180 tire. I'd like to have somewhere around a 160 to 180 on the back....ideally...but not sure if that's possible.

widest tire for the stock frame is 130/90D16. I have this tire on the back of my bike and leaves VERY little room between the tire and belt. Any wider and you will have to shave the edges of the tire(not the best idea).

I had one of these on my 1200 XL. Pretty tight, but it fit. (I turned the fender bolts down to a 1/8 thick head & put 'em in facing out & I had to pull the caliper & belt guard to get the tire/wheel installed, but no big deal really)

OOPS ! Just remembered...this bike was a chain drive , 1988 model. Sorry about any confusion ! LOL.

Howdy All,

Anyone got a clue where I can find some bars like the ones on Sporkchop's bike? Totally tired of the stock buckhorns and our local dealers have limited stock to view.
