cafe fairing

Hi I'm wondering if the cafe fairing for a 06 883l will get rid of the wind buffiting I'm getting while at highway speed?.Love the bike but not used to the amount of buffiting I'm getting. Not fussy about the big windshield.Rodger

in a word, no. It will decrease it a bit, but it won't get rid of it. To eliminate buffeting, you have to deflect a volume of air equivalent to the amount that is hitting you in the head and torso, and a cafe fairing simply doesn't have the surface area or shape to do that properly.

It will be "better"...most of them push roughly 1/3 -1/2 the volume hitting your torso away from you. You also lose some ground in the head area; the air flowing directly up the front and over the top of the fairing creates a pressure zone roughly where your head is; if you ride with a full face helmet, you'll find your head bobbing up and down in normal riding position at highway speeds. The chin bar is in a low pressure area, the top of the helmet in much higher air pressure, and the competing forces will yank your head around (sometimes a lot worse) unless you tuck in a bit. That's not always the most comfortable position to ride in for any length of time (when was the last time you saw a crotch rocket on a cross country trip? same reason)

The only real solution is a windshield. If you don't like the way they look, get a quick release one. Take it off in town, use it on the highway. It does make the ride a LOT more pleasant

what brain bucket you using?

I went from a bikini fairing to a MS Sport to a HD full, and one of my helmets buffets with all three, and the other two dont.

That bucket is now my ole ladies

I have the lod HD detachable off my 03 Dyna-saur on my Sporty, and it rides real nice.

A bikini faring with drag bars and your feet on the rear pegs, can cut out a lot of wind resistance.

I ran through the Utah desert at over 110, and by sitting upright, id slow to 95, and thats all I could get out of my Bonnieville.
