2007 XL1200L backfiring

Got used V&H slipons w/o baffles. Sound great, but there is some backfiring. Not loud, but there are "pops" when I let off the throttle. Do I need to get it dynoed/remapped? I was told that since they're mufflers, I wouldn't need to do that.

Thanks in advance!

put the baffles back in, and then u have mufflers that work correctly and ur problem will be fixed... do u have the stock aircleaner yet? if so, get an SE or other so it breathes better and get it tuned for max performance for the combo... u could even get it tuned for the 'no baffles' if u like the sound...

If you want the no baffle sound, try buying some torque cones and putting them in. They eliminated the popping from V and H's with no baffles. They are not too expensive, 20 to 30 bucks.

but they slow exhaust and pack heat back into the head, negating any gains that could have possibly been had with those pipes.

get a real exhaust, install baffles, and tune. band aid fixes like tq cones usually result in damage right after warranty expires!

Put the baffles back in and install a high flow AC filter get a set of XiEDs from Nightrider they will do the trick. Torque cones are garbage save your coin they just mask the problem not solve it. Been running the XiEDs for over a year they work as advertised. Did a 300 mile run Thursday 90 degree + heat stage I mod, no ping, oil temp never got above 190 degrees w/cooler also, bike ran great, no pops, pings, stumbles or isues.

wish i could put the baffles back in, but the guy that sold them to me didn't have them. I'll try the high flow filter and XiED. Thanks for the advice!

Anyway, found out why it was backfiring. both the bolts that keep that clamp on to hold the exhaust into the exhaust manifold fell off. now how does that happen? i think the place i took the harley to get its 5K mile service did something and did a crappy job on my bike, really dirty when i got it back and other little things etc. i'll definitely warn people about going there. anyway, bought some new bolts and everything seems fine now, except the rear rocker box leaking. gasket needs replaced. is it alright to run her still, for a while before replacing? i've got apprx few hundred miles left before 10K service.
