06 Exhaust backfiring

Hello. I just bought a 2006 1200L and it backfires through the exhaust on deceleration, not bad, just a few pops. it's bone stock except for some chrome. I've read through most forms on this issue with no help, using Quick Trip premium gas, no leaks found.

The best suggestion that I can give you is to check the joints between the mufflers and the head pipes. If you can feel exhaust leakage during Idling to mid throttle, you should get some exhaust sealent (permatex) remove the slip ons and apply as directed. Also check for leaks at the head and head pipe. It could be something as simple as re-torquing the exhaust flanges. If it is none of these and it is infact "bone" stock no filter change or slip ons. You could always get a reflash from the dealer.

If you have no intake leaks the poping problem is caused by a lean condition adjust the mixture screw or rejet and readjust
