'06 XL883C turn signal problems

I bought the bike last year with only 4200 miles on it. I've put another 3000 on since then. About two months ago I noticed an intermittent problem: the left turn signal would come on by itself. I thought maybe the controls on the handlebars had gotten a bit of moisture after being washed...especially when it seemed the signal was more likely to come on when leaning. This went on for about a week. But the problem faded...

Then a new problem started up, and this one is all the time: the rear turn signals no longer come on at all, left turn, right turn, emergency flashers, and security system flashing all work fine on the front...but the rear don't work at all. In addition, the fronts flash three times at normal interval, then they speed up about 2X and flash rapidly until they are shut off.

Has anyone seen this issue before? What is going on here? I saw this turn signal controller on ebay, and thought maybe I should give it a shot.

I live in northern Japan, and taking it in to the Harley shop is an option, but with the laguage barrier, and the high cost of HD service over here, I'd prefer to fix it myself if possible.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried removing the left side cover and checking for corrosion or moisture on any of the connections?

Also try a search for your problem. I think this has been covered before.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a shot.

I ALWAYS search first. Didn't find anything
