Need help - clutch questions

K, I have two Sportsters: a stock '83 XL1000 and an '89 883 with a 1200 conversion and I have a couple of questions:

1) On the '83 XL1000, the clutch started slipping today so I best replace it now... What is the difference between various clutches? Or, what is the best reasonably-priced clutch I can buy for it?

2) On the '89 883/1200 conversion, will the clutch be the same as for the stock 883?

Thanx for any help anyone can offer!
Carrie

Before you go buy a new clutch, have taken all the adjustment out of the cable?

And I would imagine that the conversion still runs a stock 883 clutch. Is it different from the 1200 clutch?

cant go wrong with barnette. lay the steel plates on a plate of glass and check for warpage. if no warpage, just order the barnette fibre plates and install.

sorry , dont know if the 883 and others interchange and am too tired to look it up.

Would think the clutch is the same. My understanding is the 1200 conversion only changes the top end of the engine and doesn't effect the primary or tranny. Hopefully someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.
