tetertrux wants to know Dino or Syn?
xl 883 starts, then dies after warmed up.

Ive got an 01 883 with the factory c.v. carb. When cold, the bike starts just fine, let it warm up and push the choke off and maybe about 5-10 minutes later,it will start idling down and die. It will fire back up but then idle rough and die again. Any ideas on what to look for. I dont know if its something in the ignition or fuel or what. One thing I did notice, when it first did this, I thought it might be in the carb so I tried adjustiing the idle mixture screw. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Also, when I turned the mixture screw all the way in, it never affected the bike at all. It never died so I just backed it out 1.5 turns and left it.

try spraying some carb cleaner at the intake runners . Sounds like you have a vaccum leak somewhere is the air/fuel mixture isnt doing anything .

The carb's leaking down and sucking fuel internally. Check to see how black the plugs are. You may have a heavy float or dirt in the carb bowl.

If you turn that needle in all the way and it doesn't falter or stall, then it's getting gas on it's own, cause that needle's turning off the gas, in reality, when turned all the way in.

That or someone has way too large of a pilot jet in it........

tetertrux, may want to also take a look at your black seal between the intake and carb, sometimes this will get a crack in it and really mimics the problems you are having

tetertrux, forgot to mention, also look at the seal and make sure it is just seated correctly.
