Thoughts on the H-D Sundowner Touring Seat

I have a 2002 XLH 1200, and I love it. It's an absolute thrill to ride.... Well, at least for the first hour and a half or so. Anything longer than that, my backside feels mighty uncomfortable. I've installed an engine guard w/highway pegs, and the change in foot position helps a bit, but now I'm considering replacing my stock seat.

I've been reading up on some seats, and am considering the H-D Sundowner (w/ passenger) seat. Any thoughts on this seat vs. some of the other more popular seats such as the various Mustang seats.

Thanks,

WN

When I had my '03 1200S, I put the Mustang Sport Touring seat on it. Outstanding comfort both front and rear!

seats are a personal choice...what one rider
likes, the other may not....I put a 1200 custom
seat on my hugger and it is perfect for me....
I sat on one several times at the dealer to see
if it was the one I wanted....also sat on other
bikes (with owner's permission!!) to try out
other seats (mustang solo, corbin, etc.)...
recommend you sit on other's sportsters with
various seats and see what works for you....

I purchased the Premium leather for the long rides. It makes my butt happy on the long trips. But as stated seats are a personal choice.

I've got the HD Dual Touring seat on my 02 883 Custom. Awesome seat. Great for long rides. It is taller than the stock seat though so make sure that isn't an issue for you.

By the way I got it for $20.00 at a swap meet and it's brand new!

later,

Premium leather seat here, also. Check out eBay, maybe someone is getting rid of theirs. Got mine at Chicago HD for the 20% off. Just so happens that they are my local dealer.
