2005 battery cover

After two plus years of riding this bike down the road the battery cover fasteners seem to have begun to fatigue. Yesterday, cruising down the road, I looked down and saw the cover hanging by the bottom hinge and about to find its way to the road. I secured it and it slipped down a couple more times before I reached home. Inspecting it, it looks right but obviously there is some issue. Id hate to spin it off on the road and scratch it up or lose it.

My question is, has anyone devised a good way to secure this flimsy piece of junk such that it will not fall off?

Drill a hole in the clips and secure it with small zip ties...Just pull hard and you can still break the ties and get the cover off. Replace when you're done in there....

Good idea. I was thinking of drilling a hole in the cover to attach a tie, but I realize I can, as you pointed out, drill the clip and the cover already has a hole in it. Thanks. Maybe HD should rethink that arrangement. Ill do that!
