Pros and Cons Of Lowering a Fatboy

I have an 02 Fatboy that I'm considering lowering. Does anyone have any suggestions about how low I should go or whether I should lower both front and rear or just the rear. I'm planning on changing out to some aftermarket wheels and just want the look of the bike to be good. I also plan to ride a passenger not often, but don't want to restrict myself from being able to.

Any suggestions,

Thanks,

Steven

I dropped the rear, love the looks, but I drag pipes and boards more now and feel the bumps more especially with the wife on there. It has been 2 years and I still havent raised it back up so it must not be that bad. I dropped about a inch and a half. I like the look of the tire tucked up in there more.

I lowered my 02 fatboy with 1000 miles on the clock.
That was 4 1/2 years ago. Never go back to stock height.

Want comfort? Get a Road King and sit up topside.

I was thinking of lowering my 02 also, but a little afraid of bottoming especially if 2 up.Love the look but afraid of the ride impact.

you have differnet options these days
couple of lowering kits that you can decide how low to go (up to 2")
air suspension that you can lift and lower as you see fit

and then there are your riding habits.... how often do you ride two up ?
How aggressive do you ride ?
The conditions of your local riding roads ?

I had my Heritage dropped a full 2" for two years and finally brought it up
a bit....was getting a little tired of bottoming out every time my wife was out with me

Platinum air ride is the one !
Dr Deuce has put it on many bikes.
I bought mine just for 2 up
Adjustable height & firmness. On the fly too.
I think they now have remote key fob.
Makes a huge difference !

Installed Progressive Airtail on the rear and Progressive front lower kit 3 years ago.No problems.Infinite adjustments on the rear to suit the load or riding style

Progressive Airtail here too:

I like the dropped ride solo and around town, but wanted to be able to kick it back up on the fly when heading into the mountains or twisties.

Thanks guys.
Afraid I'm not one for apes. Kind of like being able to have the arms down straight out in front of me. I think V&H could have done better with that bracket too, but then you only notice it when you're looking at the side from ground level. Except for an occasional swooning female, I don't get many people laying down to look at my ride! LOL
