Need help deciding custom 2 Fatboys 1 custom 1 Screaming Eagle?
Yeah, don't really know which would be the smarter purchase.
I like them both, 2005 Screaming Eagle Fatty or a 2003 Fatty with ALL the extras-everything but carbed.
I'm thinking down the road dollars a cents. I could be proud riding either bike for the next few years but when it comes time to sell I'd like to regain some of my $$$.
My thought is the Screaming Eagle bike will always be just that a Screaming eagle it has a 103, fuel inj. all the goodies.
The 2003 Fatty has a S&S carb, headers all the extra chrome a person could want has 6,000 miles.
Ther difference between the two is $7,500 before taxes etc. no warranty on the 03.
Just need some of your experience advice on a purchase I'm ready to make but would like some opinions first.
Thanks in advance!!!

Rereading my post thought I'd add--you know the less expensive bike is the 2003...

Buy the '03 Fat Boy and build the 103" yourself, much better performance.

You haven't bought the bike yet and you are already worried about selling or what you might get out of it?? If that's the case then you are probably going to be disappointed either way. You'll be happier in the long run if you buy the one that you want and worry about selling later.

I'm thinking for 7500 bucks more your getting a 2 year newer bike, plus it's a Screaming Eagle. I don't know what you are getting for a price on the Screaming Eagle but the 2003 sounds a little overpriced.

I'm going to have to go with Miles on this one. If your worried about the resale value then you may be better suited to buy Harley-Davidson stock..

Resale value? I haven't seen any shortage of new bikes on the showroom floors.

I hear you all.
Harley is now producing way more bikes so they'll sell them over you and I, that's their thouht now. Can't blame them that's business.
Me as a consumer want the best bang for the buck and everyone from now on will or should think of the money we'll be spending on one of these. The marriage is pretty much over with buy one today ride it a couple years and get your money back or more. Those days are gone.
Guess the Screaming Eagle will always be that a Screaming Eagle and will have more resale in the long run. It's the difference of $$$. Having a hard time spending close to 30k on any motorcycle. But I'm doing it. All my Harleys in the past have been new but I never wrote that large of a check for a bike.
Hard to justify it on a car.
Sorry, I'm yanging about spending a load.
Best bang for the buck is the smart move. We all don't think this way when making a purchase but always after that purchase we all wish we had.

I'm siding with FATVETTE on this one. Anyone worried about resale or trading in a couple of years needs to buy a stock (basic model) bike. Any special model (screaming eagle) or highly modified bike is going to be harder to sell, and you will probably get less of a percentage back on your investment. Your best investment is to buy with the intention of keeping it forever and riding it untill the wheels fall off. This will yeild a lifetime of priceless memories.

Absolutely....customize it to your liking and keep it forever as a part of you. Otherwise buy an already appreciated *** bike that you can dump later with little loss.
