Shifter Peg Removal
Having trouble removing the stock black rubber shifter peg on my softail. Do I just need to use channel locks and brute force? (Tried that, but could try harder). Any ideas?
Thanks

I use a strap type filter wrench. No damage, and works easy.

I'm assuming you are throwing it away and not selling it on Ebay so, yes, Channel Locks will work

Snapped it off
Didn't take long to snap the whole thing off. I then tried to drill it out, and that isn't working. I now have a hole drilled through the middle, so now I need to figure out how to get it the rest of the bolt out. I saw something about putting the lever in boiling water, but I can't figure out how to get the shifter arm off. I'm already 0/1 on breaking my peg, so I am a little hesitant on trying to knock the stupid arm off. Anyone have any suggestions?

Might try a hair dryer to heat it up....heat usually helps break Locktite free.

You should used a torch to begin with..........You can hit it with a little heat and loosen it without even damaging the rubber.
Now, get you an EZ out, heat it with a torch, and extract it.

XXX beat me to it. A butane torch is a handy thing to have around for loosening that locktite. A little late for that now though. You could just drill the old screw out and use a tap to clean the threads. An easier, and more expensive solution, is to go ahead and buy that new chrome shifter arm.

Finished, Thanks All
Alright, I learned my lesson. I got a Heat Gun and an EZ-out bit. After about 5 minutes, I had it out. I appreciate all those who helped me out.

I think the lesson you learned is well worth the shift peg it cost you.
