That bike went through traffic without all that.
So..my question is..what are your experiences?

I used to feel this way about my 2005 Wide Glide. I was never comfortable with it over 65mph. I always was conscious about wind and big trucks. I tried replacing the tires and that didn't help much.
Last spring I test road several bikes and bought the 2011 Heritage Softail because I was so comfortable on it. I ride it frequently at 75mph with no feeling of instability.

Getting a 2012 Heritage.
First, are the cats in the mufflers or the head pipes?
And, looking for a little; better sound, cooler running, little bump up in power.
I figure the 103 is pretty good power in the first place, so I don't need too much of an upgrade with how I ride. Solo & cruising.
So, can someone suggest a nice exhaust / tuner combination. In the past I have used TTS tuner with a great tuner guy in Pa.

I'm thinking of putting a set of Screamin Eagle slipon mufflers and a high flow aircleaner on my 2011 Heritage Softail. I was thinking of just having the EFI remapped with a download through HD, instead of going with the race tuner or fuel pak route. I'm not interested in doing cams, ect. at this time. Just after a little more low end torque and a little nicer sound. Any body done a similar setup and how did sound/work?
Thanks,
Softaleron

I believe you would wast your money on a download from a dealer. WHAT YOU'LL NEED IS MORE FUEL.. Dealer download won't give you that.. The fuelPak will do you good.. Good Luck.. Rush slip ons with 1'75 baffles will be good..

I just purchased a 2012 Heritage Softail few weeks ago and I bought the V& H staggered short shots slip ons they sound great at least you can hear the bike now pretty quiet with stock pipes.
I looked at a ton of dif. air cleaners decided to go with the V & H naked v02 and use the stock cover that made a dif. in power more snap when you hit throttle, and I just recieved the V & H fuel pak which I hopefully get put on today the number is v61017 if you go with the fuel pak you will find the map for whatever pipes and air cleaner you go with on the site so far I am super happy with my bike and the pak will make me even happier. Enjoy

Saddlebag Rubber Mounts 90524-01
When I first thought about removing the saddlebags from my Heritage, I inspected the attachments to assess the process. When I came across the Rubber Mounts (P/N: 90524-01) I started applying torque and got a very uneasy feeling as something didn't feel right. I backed off until I could get some more information about them. I eventually asked an HD mechanic about it and he basically said "Don't worry about it... just crank on it." So, since then, I would crank on them to remove the bags. When I did this, the whole rubber mount would rotate and come off with the support arm. I thought this was normal.
Yesterday, one of them finally sheared in half.I was baffled at first as I had never seen a part design like this. Of course, now I understand why it felt weird the first time I tried to remove them.
I called my dealership and had them set aside 2 replacement parts (I figured I should keep an extra on hand) but when I started to question about proper removal technique, I was forwarded to the Service Dept. They told me that the rubber mount should NOT come off but stay attached to the bike, however, they couldn't tell me how this should happen properly except that I should "hold" the rubber mount with my fingers during removal to secure it. (Advice free - Warm fuzzies not included)
Has anyone else had any similar issues with these rubber mounts? Can anyone offer any suggestions to help these last a bit longer and/or suggest any special removal techniques.
I am going to mount the new parts using lock-tite on the threaded section going into the bike mount and then during later bag removal, I thought of somehow using channel locks or something else with a wide enough grip (besides my fingers) to keep the rubber from rotating. The Service Dept suggested against that and I don't want to cause any further damage by squeezing them too hard.
Is it me or are these mounts just the result of a bad design?
I am aware that there is a relocating kit for $14.95 that would replace those mounts but I can't find out enough about it to decide if it's a direction I want to consider going. If someone has done this and can post some hi-res photos of the mount area it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Pete..
I have a 2003 and i was wondering the same thing and i guess they are still using the same set up. What i can tell you is the first time i took them off i felt exactly the same. So what i can tell you is i don't over-tighten them as spring washer compresses or the rubber starts to twist thats it. For me they are only support bolts for the bag there are 2 other bolts holding them on which you could He-Man on....
Don't use lock tight..
By the way i have chrome acorn nuts with a spring washer... I don't think they are original nuts but where on the bike when i got it..

OK, I admit I only read the first two pages so far so I have no idea what all there is yet. That said, today I bought a new to me 2009 FLSTC with 9450 miles in Red Hot Sunglo and Smokey Gold. It has a lot of extras the prior owner installed that I got basically for free but that I wanted so they are valuable to me. Among the list are:
V&H BSL pipes
Stage one a/c
quick release for the rack and bags
ISO-grips
HD LED tail and turn lights
windshield bag
all of which I'd like to have so quite a bonus for me. It also has:
Lo-Jack and security system
passenger floorboards
engine guard with highway pegs
and maybe one or two other small things I'm forgetting. Along with the bike I also got a one year extended warranty and the HD basic rider course my dealer puts on. I got it for $15,240 OTD which is about $13,200 plus warranty plus rider course plus taxes and other annoying things. I'm looking forward to finishing the rider course and picking up the bike next weekend.

Not my thing. Not a big fan of the solo seat. But it's not my bike either.
