Transporting Deuce

Anybody know if a 02 deuce will make it up the ramp of a Uhaul/Budget moving truck? I was just wondering about the incline and if it would bottom out once the front tire is in the truck and back tire is still on the ramp. Or, do any of you have any experience moving one in a cargo van? I'm flying from Texas to Kentucky to pick the bike up and it's supposed to be thunderstorms the entire time I would be riding it back so don't really want to do that...rather keep it covered. Any info will be appreciated.

When the military shipped mine, the moving company showed up with my bike in the back of a similar truck as a U-Haul. It rolled out with no problem. If your bike is already lowered, it might scrape. Hope this helps.

I bought a bike in Oklahoma once, using a U-Haul truck to bring it home. The bike didn't have the long wheelbase of the Deuce, but the ramp was nice and long... the angle wasn't that great where it connected to the back of the truck. The angle was reduced even further when I unloaded the bike on a slight hill sloping down to the back of the truck. Will be close but I think it can work... especially if you load/unload in an advantageous place, with a hand or two to help.

FWIW, I enjoyed the ride home knowing it was back there, opening up the door every so often to see it tied down and looking secure. Good luck.

Lift the ramp?

Depending on the design of the trailer, and how much help you have loading it (bring beer :p ), if it looks like it's going to bottom out, if it's possible to lift the ramp up to level with the bike on it that would probably solve the problem. then you could just roll it on on a level surface.

Or put a 2X4 under the lip of the ramp to decrease the angle of the ramp.

Good Luck!
