Evo FXR style eng. in Softail ??

Hopefully I can make sense of this question.

I believe there is a difference in the 2 eng styles, FXR (the primary covers are shorter, trani closer).

Can this shorter drive train eng. be placed in a softail style
frame ?

I'm no expert on this but I think that on FXR models the swingarm bolts up to the tranny. Not the case for Softails. Softails have a frame tube running between the engine and tranny to boot. So I seriously doubt an FXR tranny will bolt into a Softail frame.
