Dual front disc brakes on a Fatboy?
In the parts book HD offers a kit to upgrade a sportster to dual front discs. Is there anyone out there that has changed their Fatboy to duals? Seems to me that it would be offered as an accessory.

Haven't done it but they must offer it. The new Parts and Acc book has a layout in the softail section with a Fatboy in one of their new paint sets with dual discs.

If you are referring to the bike with flames, those are not dual discs! You are looking in the reflection of the chrome wheel

You wouldn't need 2 master cylinders for dual front disc brakes. Hydraulic clutch master would be on the left hand.

You'll need another fork slider with caliper lugs on it. A new master cylinder with enough displacement to handle two calipers, extra line, t fitting, caliper, rotor, mounting hardware, and wheel (cast) or hub(spoked) designed to take a rotor on both sides. Drag Specialties and JP cycles are two sources for all the parts, though you have to build your own "kit". AustinFXDWG

FatBoy Dual Disc
Well dont dispaire, HD does not oiffer any softail dual disc setups at all. The new SE Duece does have them but it is a special one time item only and uses after market sliders. I am currently putting dual disc on the front of my 01 Fatboy. It will use all stock HD parts and will look completely stock. I am still doing a little research just now but will be riding with dual's this spring. There are a lot of after market dual disc for the softails but they are really spendy.
I am going to be out less than 500.00 for my setup. if you would like I will let you know how it comes out.

Interesting. Are FatBoy forks larger than the LowRider sliders?? My Dyna LowRider came stock with dual front brake systems. Seems you could get stock components for a LowRider and install 'em on the FatBoy.

Texan, The Fatboy has 41mm forks, while the all the Dynas (Except the Wide Glide) have 39mm forks. The sliders won't swap between the two. You can get an aftermarket 41mm slider with caliper mounting lugs, but it is for the older style front end with the smaller axle and bearings. Which means, if you use it, you have to replace both sliders, the axle, and wheel hub bearings, and axles. Someone out there must make a late model 41mm slider with lugs for the other side with the later style axle, but I have not found it (yet). AustinFXDWG

When I got my fatboy I was very surprised that it didn't have dual fronts. I came from the sport bike world where every bike comes with duals...and those bikes weight half or less what my fatboy does. For a bike the weight of a harley, they should come standard with front duals...It just goes to show how far behind HD is on the performance angle.

Why even compare a Fatboy to a sport bike? The Fatboy is a barhopper/short tourer. If you want to compare a port bike to a harley, compare it to a DynaGlide Sport. It has the tunable suspension, and dual disks.
Or, compare a Fatboy to a metric cruiser. Many of them have single discs in front.
But a Fatboy compared to a Sport bike is like comparing a Town car to a 350Z
Besides, no one buys Harleys for the brakes, yo buy it for the look, the motor, and the sound.
