Turn Signal Relocation Kit

So, What exactly do you get with the factory "Directional Relocation Kit" for the 00 and newer Fatboys? They never show any pics. Does anyone have a pic? My only understanding of them is... a strait bar that replaces the aerodynamic bar between your fender and signal and mounts one hole back ?

It puts the light into the last hole on the fender strut, and also a little further out from the fender.
If it is done at a dealer, they will drill another hole in your fender (not good)

I was going to put mine on myself, but ended up taking it to the HD dealer because the post that is suppose to replace the factory “shaft” for the turn signal needed to be drilled out. I don’t have the stuff to do it right, plus I didn’t have the stuff to do the wiring, so I let them do it…

Check your bike and see where the turn signal is. If its in the last hole then either you or the dealer will just have to snip the wires, add the new signal post (after it is drilled out) and rewire each signal… As chops said, if your signal is on the 2nd to the last hole they will have to drill out the fender.

Here’s a few pics for you to see what it looks like… (don’t mind the dust, I haven’t been able to wash it because of the weather )

I guess my point was you don't have to drill the fender if it's not already.
I just installed a Jesse James fender and did not drill,
Chaotic my setup looks simular to yours except I brought the signals closer into the fender. I think your using the 1.5" stud and I went with a 3/4", and the quick disconnect still works.
I ran the sig light wires in the struts this time not inside the fenders.
I'll try to snap some pictures tomorrow.

I think they came from J&P, but I've done so much lately I could be wrong. The threads in the OEM light are fine thread I believe, so be careful what you buy.

You can tell somewhat by this pix how close in the tail sigs are.

Chaotic and Chops, Thanks for the pictures. They Make it alot clearer now. I'm really surprised that the post does'nt come pre- drilled. It looks like on mine there is enough room that I would'nt need to drill the fender cause the stock bolt now is monted to the last hole and the wiring throught the 2nd to last hole. Looks like I just pull of the fender struts and rebolt the new post and reroute the wiring.
I've been wondering though.... If it would be possible to cut out a grove out of the stock "wing" style post to make room for the edge of the quick disconnect bracket. Or, visa versa, cut or shave the QD bracket to just squeeze in infront of the stock post. ? What do ya think?

I would not mess with the side plate to much... I had thought about cutting my stock signal post too,, you really don't need that much room to get the QC to lock in, but then you wil have a hole there for raod junk, dirt and water to get in there... Besides I would not try to cut it while on the bike, never know when a slip might have you buying a new fender, and if you take it off to cut it then why not just use the reloaction kit?
