I agree with you. If it made the plate vertical instead of horizontal it would be “better”. The way it is now I’d be dragging that thing against the pavement in corners all the time.

Yeah, it does spin. You can turn it vertical but it still looks like crap

I never much saw the point of side plates. Sure, they clean up the back a little, but a plate really doesn't look all that bad on the back fender. I'd be more inclined to massage the fender to get the plate to lay flush in it for a cleaner look. Besides, around here a side plate can get you pulled over. I think the reason for pulling you over is stupid, but all the cops I've asked about it seem to get a woody when you start talking about side plates.

I agree, the side plate may make the fender look a little cleaner, but the side of the bike with the plate looks cluttered.
Too bad the plate can`t just be painted on...

That looks good. I went with rotor plate that mounted on axle and it just looked awkward . Stuck out and was first thing and only thing you noticed on side . I out back on under fender stock plate mount today and I'm liking it way better. This was a several hundred dollar mistake.

Heartland is proud of there stuff but its good stuff. In the pic there is an led light above it that lights it up.

Yeah that's more like the look I was going for . Only went with roto plate cause some states can't be vertical and you can spin . If you have a few beers last thing you want is a reason to pull you over . But the tucked in vert ones look good

That sticks out way too far. I purchased a cheapy off of Ebay that mounts close to the swingarm and is curved. In WV they issue vertical plates so it's completely legal here. I ended up having to do it after putting the 17x6.5" (IIRC, it may be 6". It's a 2007 Softail Custom wheel) on the back of my Deuce. It totally cleans up the rear on this bike though as the stock piece of plastic looks gnarly hanging from that slash cut fender. This was while I had the temporary registration while waiting for the new plate to come in. I have the new plate and just need to put the lights on the plate holder so I can get it inspected, but the weather hasn't been the greatest here so it hasn't turned into a priority.
This isn't the best photo, but you can see it:

Yeah that looks good. Mounting on swing arm is the way to go. On axle just looked awkward. I like it on your bike.

It is on axle. It's a curved piece of metal attached to a bracket that attaches to the axle on the outside of the swingarm.
