Where have all the softail customizers gone?

Like the title says, Where have all the softail customizers gone to. Or have they jumped ship to the road sofas?

Not long ago you used to see many customized Harley Softails but now they are about as rare as hen's teeth.

High Torque wants to know Dino or Syn?
Customizing goes in cycles. Not that long ago Softails were the number one seller from the dealership, then Streetglides, now Roadglides. Customizing in the last 15 years went from bar hoppers, to choppers, to baggers, and now the big wheel craze. I wonder what we will see next?

I think people discovered the comfort and versatility of Touring bikes over Softails, not to mention that baggers have been the flavor of the month for oh, I don't know, years now. Baggers will always be in style.....so will rideability. Show bikes will always push the envelopes and have limited mileage. Fads will always come and go too. Clean, design oriented paint jobs and bikes will always be in style. Skulls and single sided paint on baggers will be a great way in the future to date when a bike was built, lol.

Settertude is reading this now saying WTF is this?
Saw one a few minutes ago at a local watering hole.
My Indie stopped building them, cause there wasn't any money in it.
He still works on them--but that is it.

The Harley buyer demographic aren't buying "young guy" bikes because most of us are older than dirt. (runs)

Have a few softies and have no complaints. One's a solo the others is set up as a bagger. Have my eyes open for a touring road king or street glide if the right deal comes along.

I been riding and working on my own stuff since long before softails, been customizing stuff to my liking just as long. I personally am not a fan of bikes with radios or infotainment systems or all the creature comforts that everybody is scrambling for, not knocking those that do. But when I ride it has always been to get away from all that **** and the bare bones me, bike and road is all I want. I never went with trends. In the 70s when everybody was raking their bikes and extending forks and painting wild paint jobs on the bikes, I was doing the opposite. I was stripping my bike down and painting it basic black. focused mostly the motor and form of the bike. used to get a lot of compliments too.
