Softail tank swap

Hi, I have a mate with an Annirversary Fatboy (100) and he aquired a ding on the top of his tank, now at a swap meet he bought a tank, same colour,decal scheme etc, the seller (a HD dealer) told him it would fit a Fatboy. On looking at it today, I saw the sticker underneath states its from (I think) a Nightrain it has FXSTBi on the sticker. His Fatboy seems to have only one outlet for the fuel,whereas the new tank has 2, can anyone shed any light on whether this tank will actually fit, and what the other outlet is for...

If I recall correctly, any twin cam 1999 to 2006 softail tank should swap out

Some early 00-03 softail gas tanks had a double bung. You will have to use a fitting & teflon to block off the the other one. You might also want to check the thread size on the EFI tank because they are different than the carb if that is what he is running. There are petcock adaptors to go from EFI to Carb

The Fatboy is an injection, I was guessing the new tank was as well, so why do some have the double bung ?

Not sure why but some do some dont. Does it look like the one below. Simply get a male plug that fits the thread wrap it in teflon & seal it. Problem solved. My guess one is for EFI one is for Carb.
