Chrome Shocks on a Softail
I know this is going to irritate someone. But, can anyone answer this?
Why do people pay $350+ for chome shocks on a softail, when you can't see them?
Unless the bike is laying on it's side.

Some people need to look good even if they fall down.

At the same time though, progressive offer the same shocks cheaper not chromed...
Chrome would stay cleaner and be easier to clean, stuff doesn't stick to it as much as paint or powdercoat. I'm not sure why this would REALLY matter, especially considering you can't see them, but it's a reason lol.

Yup. I would have paid extra for black Progressive 422s, but "show chrome" is all they offer.

Why do ladies bother wearing frilly underwear?
I guess they're planning on falling over or maybe planning to step across a mirror.

What got me to wondering is, the 2009 Harley wish book has chrome shocks with a lowering kit in them for $349.95, black shock with the lowering kit for $284.95 and a stand-alone lowering kit for $99.95, on the same page.
Even with the extra for instalation of the stand-alone lowering kit, only takes me about 15 minutes per shock after they are out of the bike (provided I am out of beer in the shop and have to walk to the house to get another). It would be cheaper than even the black shocks, and if you actually needed new shocks the complete shocks would just be stock replacements and not upgrades.

If you ask the "ladies" they will tell you that it makes them "feel" pretty; with the shocks it makes you "Feel" cooler.
When I added the 422's on the Deuce I was wondering the same thing then I slipped and fell in the garage and damn'd if I didn't see those pretty chrome shocks. Made me feel so much cooler as I picked my old arse off the garage floor.

the progressive adjustables allow you to lower, and maintain a semi nice ride. the lowering kits allow --------- a screw up.
