The drag pipes are probably holding you back a bit. A good tuneable exhaust or a 2 into 1 will make better power. As for other mods the most bang for your buck will come with cams and a head job. I assume you have already changed the air filter.

While a tunable or 2-n-1 exhaust may produce more power on a dyno, it is such a small amount of power that the seat-of-the-pants dyno we are all equipped with would not be able to notice. I would consider switching pipes just to get one or two more HP/TQ to be a waste of money if you already have a set of pipes you like.

I would disagree on this too. The '06 heads flow very well (especially compared to previous years) and don't require porting to obtain good power. Getting different cams may help, but with an 88" motor the true power adds from the cams won't be realized until a Big Bore Kit is installed.

I do agree on this one. A high flow air cleaner is a must regardless of what other mods are done on the bike.

I have a s.e. air cleaner on it,i like the drag pipes so i think maybe a cam change or a big bore kit would be the way to go.I thought the drag pipes were a good choice for some more power over the stock ones!

The lack of backpressure with the drag pipes will rob you of some low and mid-range torque.
I think if I had to choose between cams or big-bore, I'd choose big bore, as it will also increase your compression, but it'd be nice to do both while it's torn down, working together will bring big gains, also agree with petrock. skip the headwork with an '06, unless you're looking to wring the most power possible out of an 88" or 95".

The '06 heads flow better, but will still be the limiting factor with either new cams or a big bore kit.

I gained nearly 10 ft-lbs at 3500 rpm when I went from a 2:2 pipe to a 2:1. That's real power you can feel.

Sorry, but that is not a universally true statement. Most V&H's 2-2 pipes have an X pipe that connects the two pipes together to provide more power and back pressure (e.g. V&H Big Shots Staggered). Your statement also assumes that drag pipes don't have baffles, but most do. IMS, V&H's pipes come with pass-through baffles installed, which don't provide alot of back pressure but there is some. Installing the V&H quiet baffles (which aren't that quiet) will give plenty of back pressure. I have them installed on my ride and love the sound etc.

Yeah, I'd go with both BB and cams (e.g. HD Stage-II kit or similar). Thats the route I went and love it. Major difference compared to stock. While your in there, you might as well replace the cam tensioner shoes, depending on how many miles you have on your ride.

It may be power you can feel, but only if your constantly riding with a wide open throttle. In the normal riding RPM ranges, the gain is minimal.
