Do you have the shop manual yet? You must have it to do this job.
If the front pulley on your bike has never been changed, you should get a new pulley, nut, lock and spacer. The original design parts that came on bikes prior to `94 had a poorly designed lock that allowed the pulley nut to come loose.
Also, while you have the outer and inner primary covers off you should replace all the seals on the left side of the transmission, and also on the inner primary cover.
