Rear oxygen sensor help needed

My son has a 09 Night Train and we are replacing the stock exhaust with V&H Short shots. Everything was going well, until we started to put in the rear 02 sensor into the new pipe. It only goes in maybe 2 turns then stops. It looks like the threads on the new rear pipe are not drilled right. I don't want to force the sensor in and mess it up and we're leaving in a few days for a trip so sending the pipe back to Vance and Hines won't work. Any suggestions? Would a muffler shop be able to tap it out? The stealer isn't open until tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Tap it!! If you cant find a tap big enough, pull the pipe and take it to a machine shop or maybe a muffler shop. Or worse case scenario have a muffler shop cut the bung out of the stock pipe and weld it into the new one.

There is an O2 sensor tap. I got mine from an ACE Hardware store. I am at work and don't have the thread/size, but you can look it up. A good hardware store will have one. Shame on V&H for not chasing the threads with a tap after welding. That is rule number one.

Thanks guys for all the info. I just got off the phone with a muffler shop and he said no problem tapping it out. It must be a common problem since they make a special tool for it. I am disappointed in Vance and Hines a little for sending out a part that wasn't properly drilled, but then I guess that goes under the heading..."s#*t happens".
Should be on the road tomorrow.

18 by 1.5 mm tap, pretty common to see them messed up.
