bike stalled when on short ride, finally got it home, this morning wont start?

2000 Fatboy with major engine work a few years ago, 96 Bore kit, Cam, crankcase breather, etc. It's been running great up to this weekend.

I went for a short ride the other day, approx 1 mile and the bike just shut off, like someone pulled the plug from the wall. I coasted to the side and tried to re-start, it took a bunch of turn overs and kicked in. I got it home. This morning I tried like many times before but it just kept cranking, and no go. If I cracked the throttle, it would seem to want to go, but never would go. I was on my way to get oil changed, and there is certainly oil in there.

Any ideas out there?

I recall with my car one year, the battery made it act all weird like this? Should I pull plugs to see if spark is going to both? That would be my next move.

When I turn the ignition to the ignition setting, the red "Engine" light comes on and stays on now.

any help would be greatly appreciated..

Sounds like you are on the right track. Check the basics first. Air Fuel and Spark if you dont have all three atleast you know where to start.

Start there. Check your spark, check your battery voltage, check the battery cables.. You restarted, so your fuses are OK.

Are your plugs fouled? Happened to me before, and bike wouldn't start after..

If it were a 2000 jeep, I'd say the crankshaft position sensor. I dunno if yours has one or not, but it sure sounds like the symptom of one. Perhaps some else more knowledgable will chime in.
