Help with Passenger Footboards on 09FXSTC

I just recently traded my 08 Nightster for a 09 Custom for more hwy power and more passenger comfort for Wife, and bigger gas tank. The Nightster peanut does not allow for long rides between stops. I have a swingarm bag from sokustom on the left side and the teardrop toolbox on the right, and both take away from passenger pegs. I'm looking for the best option for footboards for the passenger that will extend out far enough to not have to remove toolbox/bag and yet still be able to fold out of the way or quick release for while riding solo.

PS. This is my 1st post and did search the forum but could not find a good answer already posted. Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm gonna take a stab at this and say that unless you can find a suitable and strong enuff extension kit for the passenger board studs, you're screwed and are gonna have to lose the accessories.

Hogzilla is correct. You need to make sure to get peg extenders long enough to clear your accessories, or the accessories will have to go.

With that said, I use Kuryakyn Mini Wings. Gives plenty of support for the girlie on long rides and helps prevent her shoes melting on my pipes. The other bonus is that they mount to the stock passenger peg mounts. Hope that helps.

Thanks Hogzilla and petrock, that's what I was guessing and afraid of. I was looking at the Kuryakyn Mini Wings for the back as well as the Swingwings for upfront. I've moved the back further on the swingarm and it hasn't rubbed the ground and her feet can sit on the pegs now, but had to loose the toolbox. Too bad was a nice holder for the wallet, registration and insurance card while riding.

Can't help you on the rear pegs but I can tell you something about the SwingWings, you can't open and close them with your feet. Gotta press a button with your finger. I went with the SwitchBlades instead, they work well enough. I can open and close them with my feet when I want the heel rest down. Don't really use the heel rest part much but I sure like the width of the pegs themselves, kinda like mini-floorboards.
FYI...I dumped my bike at a stop sign one morning when my shoe/pants leg got hung on the foot rest, don't really know exactly how it happened. Coming to a stop, went to put my right foot down and it just got hung somewhere and for long enough I couldn't stop it from falling to the right! Had to step off the thing....damn.
Anyway point is I make sure they're up when I pull into town now.

Silvrbill, thanks for the info, feeting getting caught is when reason why I haven't considered fullsize oorboard. I screwed around with the swingwings at a dealer and saw the button. I think I would only open when I know I'm in an area of open road for a distance otherwise would keep as mini floorboards.

Hey Mahote,
I bought a leather tank divider with the concho pouch and the lockable pocket for my registration and insurance card, cigar snip, rolling papers etc. It looks a lot better in my opinion than the plastic crap they used as standard. Good luck bro.

Hogzilla, where did you get the bag, dealer, ebay? I've seen them but not a lockable one.
