You have the better one, there is really no need for gears - and 07s and later tend to have too much runout for geardrive cams. Those chains are ok.

Why on earth would you want to switch your belt for a chain?

For one... lets you put on a wider rear tire.

Currently there are VERY limited options for this convertion the only one that is "ready" is the 3guyz one BUT it is a 530 chain and has a width wider than the current belt running through the swing arm and tire/fender area. As a result you have to use a spacer to shift the 200 rear tire.

Now that I wrote all this a see you have a Dyna not a softail like mine just slap me silly and move on, the Dyna should be alot easyer to do.

First - in his above post, he stated it is for an '07 Softy.

Second - 3Guys uses an o-ring style 530 chain. Correct, this chain is a tad wider than the narrow belt used on the 200mm tire'd bikes. A standard 530 chain is not wider tho......

That would get you by without useing the shim but $519 is CRAZY to charge for the setup 70-100 bucks for the front sprocket same for the rear and 100 bucks for the chain and thats being fluffy still. I asked why and was told it was because of the blanching setup for the new splins on the sprocket for the front...ill wait for that to come down to earth first.

Also is the offset for the front sprocket assuming you will be useing the spacer on the rear so you can use the 530 O-ring chain and if so that offset is wrong if you go with a standard 530 chain.

Personally I am pretty surprised this issue is such a speculative area. I would have thought there would be enough demand for this convertion to have all the bugs worked out by now 2+ years after the release of this setup.

Don't want to steal any thunder but, I have just helped with the development of a bolt on belt to chain conversion with the 06+ 200mm rear softails...530 o-ring chain and it fits. ONLY mod is a little inner fender clearance you need to do with a dremel takes 5 min...true bolt on...details to follow...off to ride NO MORE BROKEN GD POS BELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will say their name has been spoken in this thread!

I've got an 08 train looking to put the chain on. My builder said we would be one of the first to make a chain drive for a newer softail. What sorts of offsets did you use?
