LED Fuel Gauge Gas Cap

My HD LED fuel gas crapped out after 5 months. Turned the ignition on one day and no LED lights. Dealer checked the gas cap and said it has power in and power out. Could sending unit be the problem? I see from the forum that these LED fuel gauges don't seem to have much of a service life. A $150 I feel the motor company ripped me off. Any comments are appreciated.

The first one I had was replaced by the dealer since it was less than 30 days. The current one usually has the 1st two leds go out but it periodic so I know the LEDS still work. Most likely a bad connection within the cap itself. Since it only affect thes the 3/4 to 1 full portion then I'll deal with it.

Moisture gets in them and causes havoc. When you wash the bike put a piece of saran wrap over the top of it until you are done. It will stop most of the problem. The other thing I do once in awhile is to release the gauge, pick it up partway out of the tank and let it air dry. It will go back to work then.

It is not the connector that causes the problem, it is the moisture getting inside the LED gauge that does it....
