Springer to Custom front-end conversion

Bought most of the stuff I needed today to convert my 06 FXSTSi into an 06 FXSTCi - forks, triple trees, headlight and cables...Russell - thanks for the AWESOME deal on the parts!!!

Question #1 - Can I remount my right-sided rotor to the left side or do I need to swap the tire to run in the reverse direction? Or do I need to buy a different rotor or wheel altogether?

Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question.

Question #2 - I'm thinking the only other parts I'll need to buy are a left side mounted brake caliper and a new front fender... does anything else come to mind as far as other needed parts?

I know many are probably wondering why someone would remove the springer front-end...I just like the wide-glide appearance more. I'll hang onto the springer in the event I ever decide to put it back.

Question #3 - If anyone has a left-mounted caliper and/or a fender at a good price, let me know!

I have a Chrome left side caliper. What size tire are you running? I have a couple of tire /wheel combinations. and some fenders

I went to touring lowers, Brembo brakes and a SG wheel on my FXST.

Pm me with a email account so I could send pics of the stuff

Almost there

Well...I have:

my forks (05Train supplied)
cables/brake hose (also from 05Train)
headlight (05Train)
Street Slammers - bought new from my local HD dealer today
left-side caliper - bought on ebay this past weekend
front wheel axle spacers - ordered at dealership today

Still need the front fender - will probably order (painted to match) from dealership tomorrow.

Nearly done!

Wow..time has flown by...can't believe it's been that long since my last post on this thread.

Took photos today...should have it back by next Monday. Ironing out some wheel/axle spacer issues. Bought a set of billet wheels on ebay and (surprise) the seller was less than forthcoming in his description - said "fits 2000-2006 Softails"...but neglected to mention the wheels have the old style tapered bearings, rather than sealed bearings. Anyway the price was RIGHT so kinda overlooking minor details. Will cut custom length spacers if necessary.

Also bought a front fender from ebay for $25 and paid $200 for matching paint...Buzz (Hazelwood Body & Fender in Baltimore) did a BEAUTIFUL job matching the two-tone paint and dual pinstripes!

I wish I would have seen this earlier. I have an 06 FXSTI that I would love to convert to a Springer. We could have swapped.

I've had quite a bit of interest in the springer front-end... at least two or three folks like yourself interested in a swap. What really got me movin' on the conversion was O5train puttin' his stock front-end up for sale at such a great price. It just took off from there.

Looks nice. If decide to sell the springer front end let me know. I would love to put it on my Night train.

Finally Finished

Picked her up from the shop a little while ago...I'm VERY pleased with the results:

Before (a good lookin' Springer...IMO)

And NOW...a GREAT lookin' Custom (again...IMO)

I wasn't able to use the rear wheel/210 Metzeler...the wheel was too wide...guess I'll be ebaying that, if anyone is looking for a billet wheel w/210 Metzeler (wheel has tapered bearings), let me know.

A HUGE thanks to 05Train for the GREAT deal on the forks/headlight/cables....if not for your generosity, it'd probably still be a springer.

Don't get me wrong folks...I didn't dislike the springer...I just like the Train front-end better.

Thanks!

Brake cleaner works good for getting the residual off.

Bike looks great both ways to me. It wouldn't have been an easy decision for me. Painter did a nice job!

Are you running a Mustang Vintage or Wide Vintage seat?
