Softail rear end handling

Hi,

I will shortly be in the market for a Lowrider or Fatboy, I have only managed to take both on short test rides, a friend described to me that softails tend to get a rear end weave, wavering through corners.

Can anyone here vouch for this, WOULD anyone here vouch for this... and if so is it a case of stiffening, gussetting up the frame or swingarm...? Can it be reolved, does harder progressive suspension sort it out...?

Thanks,
Cameron

Bones Bike 1
Hi Cameron,
Go to page four of this forum and read the thread started by teck1500, Wideglide v/s NIght Train. I gave first hand information on my years of owning both models. Take a look and see if that answers your question. In my opinion, the new Soft Tails handle great! Pete "Bones Bike"

fatboy vs lowrider

your gonna love that fatboy! wait till you hit a road with lots of twisties. i've ground off exhaust pipes, foot pegs, primary covers and the heels on my boots going around curves and turns. that bike will not fishtail or wobble on you. just check tire pressure often and watch out for gravel.

FatBoy’s have the least lean of any HD. Lose the boards and put on some forward controls. Take off the stock pipes and save them so if you get nailed for inspection, you can toss them back on. Put on something that lets the bike breath better (anything else is better than stock) and then hit the twisties. There's always a party around the next bend.

monkeyboy is on a distinguished road
I'm currently riding an '02 Fat Boy with plenty of scrapes on both the floorboards. Because the floorboards don't pivot, the only time I get any wiggle is when I lean it too far over.
