Need to stretch out on an FXST

I have a Fat Boy for myself, but just picked up an '05 Springer (FXSTS) for my wife. She's not ready to ride it yet (just couldn't pass up the deal). Until she's ready to ride it, I will take it out for rides every now and then. The problem is: I'm 6-1 and when I sit on it, it feels like my knees are above the tank... and frankly, I just feel too big on it. I've seen some ads for 2 and 3 inch forward control kits... I really didn't want to go with anything that permanent since my wife will ride it eventually (hopefully by summer).

Anyone have any good set ups on their FXST's or maybe even a highway bar/pegs that lets taller guys feel more comfortable?? Pictures would be great... Thanks! Dan

Here's my 03 FXST it has the Arlen Ness 3" extension and the HD highway bars (for the extended reach fwd controls) with pegs. I'm 6'2 and after modifying the seat/suspension the bike is very comfortable for extending rides.

Hey Buddha4, you got a larger pic?

I run the Ness 3" extensions also. I added Kuryakyn highway peg extensions for the "extra" stretch/comfort on the long rides.

Yea, I saw those swing out Kuryakyn pegs recently... that may do the trick for me when I ride. Like I said, I don't want to permanently move the controls forward because then my wife can't reach. These pegs or other highway pegs will probably suffice for when I ride the Springer. Thanks for all the input.

if you decide to go with those swingwing pegs let me know how you like them. I just hate to pay so much for something I might not like.

I'm not sure what the stock seat on that bike looks like, but changing to a Badlander style seat sometimes helps you slide back from the controls a bit. I'm 6'5" and ride a Deuce comfortably. I kicked the forward controls out an additional 3 inches, with one of the above mentioned kits, and then replaced the stock seat with a HD Badlander. I lost some comfort for the backside, but it helped the legs.

If you want to get some comfort back, install an air ride rear suspension! I can ride all day long with a LePera Bare Bones.
