HOG at Sturgis 2009
Did the MOCO have a reception for HOG members at their exhibit in Rapid City? Just wondered. Couldn't make it this year.

I got my pin but didn't see a reception area like last year but didnt reaaly look for it. The 2010 bike displays were outside in a tent instead of a cool indoors area. Lots less bikes on display too. The moco was saving some money this year with a parking lot venue

Hill City, Custer, Sturgis, Deadwood, every towns dealership had zero bikes inside the store. The floor space was much more valuable to them for displaying clothes and such. (no one buys bikes at a party, but they buy tons of T-shirts and coffee cups).
Pretty logical, once you think back on it.

The only inside activity at the Civic Center was a place to pick up pins. No snacks like last year.
They did have a food tent outside, plus new bikes, etc.
They also had (same as last year) a place to wash bikes--very welcome after a long ride to sturgis. There was also a rep from Harley explaining use of the various cleaning products.

I was kind of disappointed in Harley for having it outside. The Civic center must be price gouging to pay for there new ice rink. just like rapid city would do.

Times are tight right now, can't really blame them. I don't think we've seen the bottom yet....

Actually, you can blame them. With the membership, these HOG hospitality events and pin stops were part of the membership benefits they sell. When they didn't show at Laughlin, with no explanation, I didn't renew my HOG membership, they obviously can overcharge us for everything, but not make their scheduled events. That's BS.

I totally agree.............. They don't blink at taking your money when things are good. I will let mine go after this subscription is up. You really don't get much for the membership anymore. Used to be a good to have, not anymore.
