Easier to turn a super duke to an fxr than the converse.

Who says a FXR is trying to be a Ducati?
No, a duke is a duke-try making a super duke into a Harley pushrod V2 and change the frame as well to make it an FXR. A duke motor design and motor (although the great in its own way) will never be a Harley FXR-the legend, and the best Harley frame design ever to come from the MOCO.

Apples and oranges-

Sure, no one expects an fxr to be a duc---I was toyingly expounding FXDRYDR's last statement from his post, cuz it rings so true.

More posers own Harleys than any other make.
I don't think having a nice front end makes you a poser.

But having a nice front end makes you popular with the ladies.

Unca Mike wants to know Dino or Syn?
This whole thread started with a "how far to go" with the front end on the OP's FXR. My personal bottom line is that you can go way out there in search of the ultimate front end for your FXR. Spend beau coup thousands if you want. Or... keep it simple. It's your party, whoever is reading this. I can see the attraction of going for the latest and greatest. I can get lost down the rabbit hole chasing that dream myself. I dig that kind of stuff. However, when I think about how I actually ride these days (having passed into Geezerhood a while back), I lean toward just putting stiffer springs in the forks and going with heavier oil. The springs are the main thing though. All FX's need stiffer springs to get rid of that mushy front end. Maybe add emulators but that's about it.

An FXR doesn't have to be a Ducati but a well done FXR with a crazy SOB rider can indeed humiliate a poser on a Duc. My bud with the tricked out FXR I have written about before has done it. But, of course, he is true wildman and he has the broken bones to prove it. When it comes to proving a point, Big Brass Balls count more than hardware.

I agree fully with you. I myself went for 49mm legs from a vrod with stiffer springs in my green FXR, and the other one has the 39mm 2001+ dyna legs with stiffer springs and thicker oil.
The ultimate frontend imo is with Ohlins legs and Brembo calipers but that will set yoy back approx $10.000 which is way too much for me.

" will set yoy back approx $10.000"

Not many standing in line for those, at that price. That's half a new bike.

True, but last month my indie had to do 2 bikes with them (a FXR and a Dyna).
